Approach to Therapy
My approach to therapy is first and foremost a collaborative process between my clients and myself. Your process in therapy should be just that – a plan for treatment that we come up with together based on your unique needs, learning style, and approach to life.
I consider myself an eclectic therapist in that I blend many theories and approaches. These include:
-
- Developmental and ego psychology
- Solution-focused treatment
- Cognitive behavioral & Exposure Therapy
- CBT- I (for chronic insomnia)
- Family systems
- Strength based
I have an active therapeutic style and usually offer feedback and advice when appropriate. When working with families or children, parent involvement and communication is central to my approach. I strive to create a warm, caring and non-judgmental environment in which my clients can learn and grow.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, exercise, hanging out with my family, and walking my Goldendoodle, Bernie.
